• Referral-triggered donations go to EIN-verified school funds or nonprofits, never to individuals

1. Counselor Mode: Anonymous by Design

• No login or account is required

• No names, emails, or school IDs are collected

• All exploration is session-based and temporary

• Save/share/export/print features are disabled

• Sessions automatically time out after inactivity

 

This ensures that counselor use is FERPA-safe and non-invasive.

 

2. Student Accounts: Voluntary and Secure

• Students (or parents) may choose to create accounts to save progress

• We collect only what’s needed: GPA, test scores, college list, and preferences

• We do not market directly to minors

• All data is encrypted and stored securely

• Users can update or delete their data at any time

 

3. Data Usage: Planning Only

Selection U LLC uses your data only to:

• Power admissions likelihood, cost, and ROI tools

• Help you compare colleges and make informed decisions

• Improve platform functionality (in aggregate, never individually)

 

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or third-party analytics.

 

4. Donations and Referral Codes

• If a student subscribes using a counselor’s referral code, Selection U LLC donates a portion of the fee to an EIN-verified school fund or nonprofit

• No student data is used to trigger or track donations

• Counselors receive no personal compensation

• All donation activity is logged and auditable

 

5. Platform Independence

Selection U LLC is 100% independent. We do not accept funding, sponsorships, or influence from:

• Colleges or universities

• Advertisers or marketing firms

• Scholarship providers or financial institutions

 

This ensures that all insights are unbiased and data-driven.

 

6. Communications

• We send monthly planning emails only to subscribed users

• These emails contain college planning tips, not promotions or upsells

• You can unsubscribe at any time

 

7. Data Security and Session Controls

• All data is encrypted in transit and at rest

• Counselor sessions auto-expire after inactivity

• Student accounts are protected by secure login

• We use technical gating to restrict access and enforce ethical boundaries
